nisafNigerian Students Arts Festival (NISAF) Prize for Poetry, an initiative of Association of Faculty of Arts Students, University of Ibadan, is presented in anticipation of the forthcoming Arts festival. It is geared towards spicing up the event and also uncovering potentials, honing abilities, proclaiming the art of creativity and consequently hoisting the flag of excellence among students in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions.


In proposition of encouraging creative minds, an anthology of the top 50 poems (of entries received) will be published while the 1st, 2nd and 3rd poems will be awarded as follows;



1st Prize – ₦10,000

2nd Prize – ₦7,000

3rd Prize – ₦5,000


Submission Guidelines:

  • Undergraduates only of Nigerian institutions are eligible to enter.
  • Participants have the liberty to explore any theme as regards their entry of limitless word count.
  • All entries must be original, intellectual property of the entrants.
  • Submissions should be sent in alongside a brief biography and modest photograph. Name of tertiary institution should be clearly mentioned alongside contact details (email address and phone number) to
  • All entries must be pasted in the body the email. There should be no attachment of documents.
  • All entrants are entitled to a single entry.
  • All submissions should be titled ‘Nigerian Students Arts Festival Poetry Prize 2016’.

  Submission Deadline: 10th August, 2016

Note: No entry received later than the stipulated deadline will be considered.

Winners will be awarded at the Arts Festival in October, 2016.

  1. Please why is this not opened to all poets?am a poet and interested not in the prize but in the poetry festival,am urging you with heartfelt plea to free it for aspirants too…
