A protest has begun to get part of the “Jungle” migrant camp in Calais removed – with heavy disruption expected for British travellers.
French hauliers and unionists have set off from Dunkirk and Boulogne and are holding up traffic on the A16 towards Calais in two columns of traffic.
The A16 is the main route for freight and passengers heading to Britain either via the Channel Tunnel or the Calais port.
French farmers are set to join the
demonstration later, ahead of a “human chain” protest at the Stadium de l’Epopee in Calais.
