The Tragedy of Victory: On-The-Spot Account of the Nigeria-Biafra War in the Atlantic Theatre by Brig.Gen. Godwin Alabi-Isama

Written by one of the very main actors of the civil war, The Tragedy of Victory is a gigantically detailed account of the war. Born to Kwara parents, Brig. Gen. Godwin Alabi-Isama really did not have anything to gain from publishing a piece as revealing as this. However, his penchant thirst for truth and love for his countrymen that have had their face veiled from the truth for years has led him to publish it.

The book is written in three parts. The first part tells us about his early life. The second part tells us about his experiences as the Chief of Staff during the civil war. In the third part, the author tries to discredit some claims made by other active players.

Although, there is always a trace of sentimentalism in writing, this book probably tells the truest of all the Biafra stories. This claim is substantiated with the pictures that accompany the write up.

A worthy addition to any library.
